Believe it or not, a whole week has already passed since the release of public versions of the new iOS and iPadOS 14 operating systems. So all users can find out what the new operating systems bring for a whole week. In our magazine, we constantly bring you various guides and articles in which you can learn more about the functions and features of new operating systems. Let's take a look together in this article at 5 new features in iOS 14 that you should try right away.

Application library

As soon as you find yourself on the home screen in iOS 14, you may notice several changes. At first glance, you will most likely notice the redesigned widgets, where you can now choose one of three sizes, and on the iPhone, you can also move them to pages with applications. After exploring a bit more, you'll definitely notice a new apps screen where apps are sorted into several categories - this screen is called Application library. At the launch, Apple said that the user only remembers the arrangement of apps on the first two screens, which is the main reason why Apple came up with the App Library. iOS 14 users are divided into two groups - the first of them praises the App Library and uses it, the second group would prefer to find a button to deactivate this function in Settings. Application library can be found at home screen towards the far right.

Picture in picture

If you're a Mac, MacBook or iPad user, you've probably already tried it at least once Picture in picture. This feature has been available on these mentioned devices for a long time, but it only came to the iPhone with the arrival of iOS 14. Thanks to this feature, you can easily take a video from an app (such as FaceTime) and work in another app at the same time. The video will be moved to a small window, which is always displayed classically in the foreground. For example, you can easily watch a movie while reading an article, or you can have a FaceTime call with someone while browsing the web. Activating Picture-in-Picture is simple – you just need to video or film let go and then moved to the home screen. If the application supports this function, the video will appear in a small window in one of the corners of the screen. Of course, the video can also be easily controlled. If Picture in Picture does not work for you, then v Settings -> General -> Picture in Picture make sure you have the function active.

New features in Messages

With the arrival of iOS 14, we also saw the arrival of brand new features within the Messages app. One of the most useful is the option to pin certain conversations to the top of the screen. Thanks to this, you will not have to search for certain conversations in the classic list, but they will always be available at the top. For pinning swipe over the conversation swipe from left to right, and then tap pin icon. Pro unpinning then to the pinned conversation hold your finger and then tap on Unpin. In addition, you can now in Messages answer directly for certain messages – just na hold your finger on the message, and then select an option Reply. In group chats, there is also an option for designation of a certain member, in this case just write at-sign and for him name, for example @Pavel. There are also options for changing the group's profile picture and much more.

Lost your password?

As part of the new iOS and iPadOS 14 operating systems, we also saw a certain redesign of the Settings section, which is used to manage all kinds of passwords. Within this section, for example, you can view passwords to certain accounts or profiles, in addition, this section can warn to the fact that you have it set somewhere multiple times same password which of course is not appropriate. Of course, you can also set individual passwords here manually alter, Alternatively, you can use the option to add completely new record. Newly, however, this section can also notify you if any of your passwords have accidentally leaked onto the Internet. If a leak has occurred, you will be shown exactly which records may be at risk. Of course, you should change leaked passwords for peace of mind to stay as safe as possible. You can see all your passwords, along with notifications, in Settings -> Passwords.

Improvements in Camera

With the arrival of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro (Max), we also got a newly redesigned Camera application, but unfortunately only on the aforementioned flagships. The good news is that most of these new features are also available on the older iPhone XR and XS (Max) in iOS 14. In this case, we can mention the possibility of taking pictures in 16:9 format, or perhaps an option for fast changing the resolution when shooting a video, thanks to which you do not have to go to Settings and change preferences here. In addition, in the new Camera application, you can shoot on selected devices Quick Take videos (by holding the trigger) and much more. At the end of this paragraph, I will also mention that taking photos in the Camera application is generally faster. For example, on the iPhone 11, taking single pictures in a row is 90% faster, loading the app itself and taking the first picture is 25% faster, and taking portraits in a row is then 15% faster.
