Most of us are already used to using the Apple phone through gestures. We didn't have anything else left, because together with the arrival of the iPhone X, i.e. with the arrival of Face ID, the desktop button with Touch ID was removed. At first, many users were not enthusiastic about this step, but today it is practically standard. So we use gestures directly in all kinds of applications - and Safari is one of them. With the arrival of iOS 15, it received several design and functional changes, along with new gestures. In this article, we will look at 5 gestures that you can use in Safari from iOS 15.

Opening the panel overview

If you open an overview with panels in Safari in older versions of iOS, it will appear in a kind of fan in which you can move up and down. Some may like this "fan" display of panels, some may not. But the truth is that in iOS 15 it was replaced by the classic grid display. If you would like to view an overview of the panels, just click on the icon of two squares in the address bar. In addition, it is possible to use a gesture - that's enough place your finger on the address bar, then swipe up. Then the overview of open panels will be displayed.

Move to another panel

Using panels is one of the most basic activities in any web browser. Thanks to the panels, you can have several pages open at the same time and easily switch between them. Until now, in Safari from iOS, we could move between panels via the panel overview, but that changes in iOS 15. If you would like to move to previous panel, so it is enough that you swipe from the left part of the address bar to the right. To move to another panel in order, so swipe from the left side of the address bar to the right. This allows you to move between panels without having to open the panel overview.

Create a new panel

On the previous page, we looked together at how you can use gestures to move to the previous or next panel in Safari from iOS 15 - and we'll stay with panels on this page as well. Until recently, if you wanted to open a new panel in Safari on the iPhone, you had to tap the two-square icon at the bottom right of the screen, and then tap the + icon at the bottom left. However, we can now create a new panel in Safari also using a gesture. Specifically, you need to move to last open panel in order. Once you are on it, jswipe from the right part of the address bar to the left one more time. A + will start to appear on the right side of the screen. As soon as you drag your finger to the left, you will find yourself on a new panel.

Back or forward

In addition to the fact that in Safari from iOS 15 you can use gestures to move between individual panels, you can also move between open pages. Anyway, this gesture has been available in Safari for iPhones for a long time, but there are still users who don't know it. If you would like within the panel move back a page so it is enough that you swipe from the left edge of the display to the right. Pro move forward a page then pass with your finger from the right edge of the display to the left. In this case, it is necessary to move your finger outside the lower part of the screen, where the address bar is located.

Updating the page

Until now, if you wanted to update a webpage in Safari on the iPhone, you had to tap the spinning arrow icon in the right part of the address bar. In iOS 15, this option remained, however, you can now also use a gesture to update a website. This is very similar to the update gestures in other applications, for example social networks, etc. So, in case you want to update a page in Safari using a gesture, all you have to do is moved to the top of the page, where swipe from top to bottom. An update indicator will then appear, which will disappear after the update is complete.
