When Apple introduced the iPhone X in 2017, we had to rely on gestures to control the Apple phone. The popular Touch ID, which worked thanks to the desktop button at the bottom of the screen, was removed. All users know how to use gestures to go to the home page on newer iPhones, how to open the app switcher, etc. However, in this article we will focus on 5 other gestures that you probably didn't know about.

Range

Smartphones are getting bigger practically every year. Currently, the increase in size has somehow stopped and a kind of golden mean has been found. Even so, some phones can be simply too big for users, which is a problem especially if you use the iPhone with one hand, as you cannot reach the top of the display. Apple also thought of this and came up with the reach function, thanks to which you can move the upper part of the display downwards. You can use the reach by slide your finger down approximately two centimeters above the bottom edge of the display. To use Reach, it is necessary to have it activated, namely in Settings → Accessibility → Touch, where the function can be activated.

Shake for action back

Chances are, you've already found yourself in a situation where a dialog box appeared on your iPhone with the option to undo an action. Many users at that point have no idea what this feature means or what it actually does, so they perform a cancellation. But the truth is that this is an extremely useful feature that acts as a back button and appears when you shake the phone. So if you're writing something and find that you want to go back, just do it they shook the apple phone, and then clicked on the option in the dialog box Cancel action. This makes it easy to take a step back.

Virtual trackpad

You can use the trackpad to control the cursor on your Mac. However, when it comes to controlling the (text) cursor on the iPhone, most users simply tap where they want to go and then overwrite the text. But the problem is that this tap is often simply not accurate, so you don't hit the place you want. But what if I told you that there is a virtual trackpad directly included in iOS that can be used just like on a Mac? To activate it, you just need to iPhone XS and older with 3D Touch press down hard with your finger anywhere on the keyboard, na iPhone 11 and later with Haptic Touch pack hold your finger on the space bar. Subsequently, the keys become invisible and the keyboard surface turns into a virtual trackpad that can be controlled with your finger.

Hide the keyboard

The keyboard is an integral part of iOS and we use it practically all the time - not only to write messages, but also to fill out various forms and documents or to insert emojis. Sometimes, however, it can happen that the keyboard simply gets in the way, for whatever reason. The good news is that you can hide the keyboard with a simple gesture. Specifically, you just need to swipe the keyboard from the top downwards. To display the keyboard again, just tap in the text field for the message. Unfortunately, this gesture only works in native Apple applications, i.e. in Messages, for example.

Zoom videos

To zoom in, users use their iPhone's camera, thanks to which they capture a picture, which they then zoom in on in the Photos application. If you would like to find out how to simplify the entire approach procedure, then open the article below that will help you. In addition to pictures and images, however, you can also zoom in on videos on the iPhone very easily, even during playback itself, or before playback starts, with the zoom remaining set. Specifically, the video image can be zoomed in the same way as any image, by spreading two fingers apart. You can then move around the image with one finger, and pinch two fingers to zoom out again.
