Currently, the release of iOS 17.1 is upon us, and although Apple will not present iOS 18 until WWDC in June 2024 and we will see the sharp version in September of next year, here are some wishes from whom we hope that we will finally see it - whether in the tenth iOS update 17 or the next iOS 18. Some have been resolved for a really long time, while Apple still successfully ignores them. But we don't forget.

Control Center

The Control Center interface has looked the same for years, and it's been in need of improvement for years. It is extremely limited in terms of features and customization. Now, many of its features additionally replace the iPhone 15 Pro Action button. It is also for this reason that it deserves more care, access to third-party applications, the possibility of completely rearranging the menu, etc.

Volume control

It's annoying and confusing. If you want to adjust the volume of a call, playback, ringtone or sound in applications and games, you constantly increase and decrease the volume. Apple keeps ignoring the addition of some simple manager that would allow us to set the volume for certain situations in a clear interface. In addition, when you manipulate the volume in the system, it shows you the level in the Dynamic Island, and when you tap it, it just jumps and it goes out. Why doesn't he at least redirect us to the sounds? Why won't it enable silent mode directly? There are really huge reserves here that Apple should remove.

Professional features of the Camera application

It's a little embarrassing to have an iPhone with the Pro designation in our hand, which is intended for professionals who shoot commercials and feature films, and which will not allow us to choose values manually. At the same time, the Camera interface keeps adding more and more options, but we still can't focus manually, set the ISO value, white balance, etc. If Apple doesn't want to bother less experienced users, let them hide it by default, but for those who would appreciate it (because otherwise they have to reach for third-party applications), they will give the option to turn on manual determination in the settings, similar to what they do with ProRAW and ProRes. Would it really be such a problem?

Installing updates in the background

Why do we have to run a system update in 2023, when for tens of minutes (depending on the size and importance of the update) we just stare at a black screen and a white company logo with an endless progress bar? In addition, it does not correspond to reality at all, because usually during the installation the device restarts and the indicator starts anew. Even Google can already do this, when Android updates in the background, and to deploy a new version of it, you just restart the device and you're done.

Notification

As if Apple doesn't know how to deal with them, that's why they keep modifying their interface somehow, moving them from the top to the bottom, grouping them, dividing them, sometimes they're visible on the lock screen, sometimes not, and no one knows why. Notifications in iOS are too overwhelming and too inconsistent, especially when they arrive in large numbers, because the system does not sort them well, especially if you still have some previous ones. One would hope that notifications would also make more use of Dynamic Island when all the latest iPhone 15 models have it. And those sounds you can't change for those apps. So please, Apple, give it one last, really usable try.
