Personally, I have thought for a long time that people have somehow gotten used to subscriptions to all kinds of services. Such subscriptions have been with us for a really long time, for example in the form of rent or leasing. However, in the modern world, I still find that people are simply not willing to pay for something that can make their lives easier. I probably see this most often with the apple service iCloud, when users of apple devices can sleep peacefully knowing that their data is not backed up and that they do not use all the benefits that iCloud offers. It's hard to say whether I'll be able to convince such users to subscribe to iCloud, but in this article we'll take a look at 5 reasons why subscribing to iCloud is a good idea.

All files backed up

The biggest advantage of iCloud is that you have all your data backed up on remote storage. Specifically, these are application data, photos, videos, documents, notes, reminders, and simply everything you work with every day. So if someone steals your iPhone or other Apple device, or if it is destroyed, you can wave your hand over it in the finale. Even if you lose your Apple device, you are 100% sure that you haven't lost a single byte of data. Personally, thanks to this feeling, I can sleep peacefully without fear that my iPhone or Mac will never turn on the next day.

Synchronization absolutely everywhere

In addition to the fact that you can have all your files backed up thanks to iCloud, you can also use synchronization. This specifically means that whatever you do on one Apple device, you can immediately start doing on another Apple device. Specifically, I have in mind, for example, work on various documents, notes, open panels in Safari and much more. So, for example, if you start creating a document in Pages on your Mac and decide to switch to your iPhone or iPad, you just need to save the document, open Pages in iOS or iPadOS, open the document and continue exactly where you left off. So you don't need to send anything via e-mail, you don't need to use a flash drive and you don't need to use any similar method for data transfer.

Features from iCloud+

Relatively recently, Apple introduced the "new" iCloud+ service, which is available to all individuals who subscribe to any iCloud plan. iCloud+ comes with some great security features that may be of interest to many users. It is primarily a Private Relay, which can completely mask your identity when browsing the Internet, including your IP address, location and other data. In addition to Private Transfer, there's also Hide My Email, which lets you, as the name suggests, hide your email address, both when signing in to apps and directly within the Mail app. Furthermore, thanks to iCloud+, you can also use your own e-mail domains and at the same time you get support for recording video from security cameras through HomeKit. Just great stuff.

Using iCloud Drive

On one of the previous pages, I mentioned that thanks to iCloud, you can easily back up all the files from the applications. But it should be mentioned that you can actually back up anything you want to iCloud, be it movies, games, secret documents or anything else - just use iCloud Drive, which is a remote storage where you can upload any files as easily as to the internal storage of your Apple device. Of course, you can access all the files you save on iCloud Drive from anywhere where the Internet is available. Last but not least, you can easily share files and folders from iCloud Drive with other Apple users for easy collaboration.

You can gel a pack of cigarettes or coffee

Finally, I would like to state once again how it actually is with the prices of the iCloud service. There are a total of three paid tariffs available, namely 50 GB for 25 CZK per month, 200 GB for 79 CZK per month or 2 TB for 249 CZK per month. You can then share the two last-mentioned tariffs, i.e. 200 GB and 2 TB, with a family of up to six. If you were to use sharing with such a large family, you would get 200 GB of storage for CZK 13 per month per person and 2 TB of storage for CZK 42 per month per person. These are really the kind of sums for which nowadays you can buy practically nothing - maybe a small coffee or half a pack of cigarettes. This is just to point out how cheap iCloud really is, and I personally think that with all the features it offers, its price could be even higher. Even if iCloud was double the price, I would have no problem paying for it. And you shouldn't have such a problem either. Many users only start using iCloud or another form of backup and synchronization after losing valuable data - don't be one of those users, and if you don't, start using iCloud right away.
