Apple is among the technological giants that set the direction of modern technologies. A few weeks ago, the Californian giant came out with the brand new Apple M1 processors, and many were rather pessimistic at first when they were introduced. But the Californian company showed us that they managed to create really powerful machines, which are already more than usable for many at this moment. In this article, we will talk more about why it is likely that Apple will do more than just succeed with processors that are based on the ARM architecture. It could even affect the entire computer segment, for several long years ahead.

Dominant position

It cannot be said that Apple with its macOS has a market share comparable to that of Windows - of course, Microsoft's system is clearly in the lead. On the other hand, according to real tests, M1 processors can run applications programmed for Intel processors without any problems. The great performance of the native ones and the fairly decent performance of other applications will ensure that regular macOS users who do not use Windows will sooner or later buy new Apple computers. In addition, Apple will probably succeed in luring users of competing machines as well. Personally, I expect that thanks to the arrival of Apple Silicon processors, even die-hard Windows users could switch to Apple.

Microsoft (again) revived Windows on the ARM architecture

If you follow the events of the Microsoft world at least a little, you surely know that this company tried to run Windows on ARM processors. However, the transition didn't quite work out for him, but that doesn't mean for Microsoft that he would throw the flint in the hay - because recently Microsoft introduced its Surface Pro X. On the Microsoft SQ1 processor that beats in this device, it collaborated with the company Qualcomm, which has the production of ARM processors great experience. Although the SQ1 processor is not among the most powerful, Microsoft plans to run emulated 64-bit applications that were programmed for Intel on this device as well. In other words, this would mean that in the more distant future we could theoretically also see Windows for Macs with M1 processors. In the moment, if the technology were to spread, pressure would be put on the developers as well. After all, Apple itself states that the arrival of Windows on Apple Silicon depends only on Microsoft.

Economy first

At the moment, it is very unlikely that you would go on longer trips, but in a month or two it may well be different. It is precisely for these moments that the maximum endurance of your device is suitable - and it does not matter whether it is a phone or a laptop. ARM processors are, on the one hand, extremely powerful, but on the other hand, they are also extremely economical, and more demanding users will have no problem managing more than a few hours of operation. People who then mainly perform office work can easily last for several days.
