Surface cleaning kits

Mac users are divided into two groups in terms of desktop order. In the first you will find individuals who maintain it and know exactly where they have what, in the second there are exact opposites who have absolutely everything stacked on the surface, and that with a system that no one understands. In any case, macOS has been a feature for a long time, thanks to which you can tidy up your desktop with a single click - these are so-called sets. If you would like to try them out, they can be activated by pressing the right mouse button on the desktop, and then selecting Use Sets. You can deactivate the function in the same way. Sets can divide all data into several different categories, with the fact that once you open a certain category on the side, you will see all the files from that category. This can be, for example, images, PDF documents, tables and more.

Zooming in on the cursor if you can't find it

Quite possibly, when working on a Mac, you often find yourself in a situation where you simply lose the cursor on the monitor. This most often happens if you have external monitors connected and thus a larger desktop. Personally, I deal with this "problem" practically every day, but luckily it has a great solution, where after a shake the cursor can get bigger and you can see it right away. To activate this feature, go to  → System Settings → Accessibility → Monitor → Pointer, where activate possibility Highlight the mouse pointer with a shake.

Select a different cursor color

In addition to the fact that you can activate the function on the Mac, thanks to which you can always find the cursor on the desktop, you can also change its color. By default, the cursor on the Mac is black with a white border, which is ideal for most situations. If you would still like to change the color, just move to  → System Settings → Accessibility → Monitor, where you can already find the boxes below Pointer outline color a Pointer fill color. To select a color, just tap on the currently set color to open a small selection window. If restoring the original colors just tap on Reset colors.

Low battery mode

If you own an iPhone in addition to a Mac, then you surely know that you can easily activate the low power mode on it in several ways. For a long time this mode was only available in iOS, but in recent years Apple has extended it to other systems, including macOS. So you can simply save battery on your Mac by activating low power mode. You do this by swiping to  → Settings… → Battery, where it is then possible to execute in a line Low mode consumption activation. But it wouldn't be Apple if it was just like that - unfortunately, this mode cannot simply be turned off or on in the classic way. Specifically, it can be activated either constantly, or only when powered by battery or only when powered from an adapter.

AirPlay from iPhone to Mac display

For simple and wireless mirroring of content from an iPhone or iPad, for example, to a smart TV, you can use the AirPlay function. This is an absolutely perfect gadget, but many users still don't know about it. AirPlay can be useful, for example, for a simple presentation of your photos and videos from your vacation, but of course there are more options. In addition to being able to mirror the screen to a TV via AirPlay, you can also transfer it to a Mac. Yes, Apple's computer screen isn't huge, but it's still bigger than an iPhone, which is good for content consumption. To start AirPlay from iPhone to Mac, all you need is to have all the devices with you and connected to the same Wi-Fi. Then only on iPhone (or iPad) open control center, click on screen mirroring icon and subsequently select your Mac from the list of AirPlay devices.

Live text to recognize text on images

One of the new features that is relatively new to Apple operating systems is definitely Live Text. When used, this gadget can recognize text on images or photos, and then convert it into a form in which you can work with it. There is thus the possibility of marking and copying, in case of clicking on links, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, etc. Even though Live Text does not officially support Czech, it can still be used without any problems - it can only use our diacritics. By default, Live Text is turned off on Mac, and you can activate it in  → System Settings → General → Language and Region, where tick possibility Live text. Then you can easily mark and work with text on images in macOS.

Deleting data and settings

If you decide to sell your Mac, or if you want to reinstall the entire macOS system, it is not a complicated matter - even if it was not such a simple procedure just a few years ago. The procedure for erasing data and settings on a Mac is currently very similar to that on an iPhone. So just go to  → System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset, where you just click on Erase data and settings... Then just follow the wizard that will guide you through resetting your Mac. After completion, you will be able to sell your Mac without worries, reactivate it, etc.
